In short
- Your health record is stored on your phone.
- Only when you activate Código Infarto does the app send your data and your location to the hospital that will receive you and notify your emergency contact.
- We do not sell your data, we do not show ads and we do not use your data to train models.
- You can delete your data whenever you want.
1. First things first: 911
Código Infarto does not replace 911 or professional medical judgment. In an emergency, always call 911.
The app calls 911 from your own phone. We do not send your data to 911; what you tell the dispatcher is up to you.
2. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for the Código Infarto app is:
- Data controller
- Novolution Labs, S.C.
- Address
- Calle Espíritu Santo 1294, col. La Lima, C.P. 80040, Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico
- novolutionlabs@gmail.com
- +52 55 6610 3613
When the receiving hospital gets your data to treat you, that hospital also becomes a data controller for it within its own medical record.
3. What data the app uses
You decide what you enter. The more complete your health record, the better the hospital can prepare.
| Type | Data |
|---|---|
| Identity | Name, address, gender, ethnic group, date of birth, the health institution you are enrolled in and your membership number. |
| Emergency contacts | Up to two people: name, phone number and relationship. |
| Health (sensitive data) | Cardiovascular and bleeding risk factors, conditions, medications, allergies, lab results, weight and other measurements, a photo of your electrocardiogram, the time your symptoms started and the chat messages with the hospital. |
| Location | Your precise location when you activate Código Infarto, to recommend a hospital, map the route and let the hospital know how long it will take you to arrive. It is also used when you look up nearby hospitals. |
Your emergency contacts' details are entrusted to you by someone else. Let them know you added them and why.
The app does not collect your contact list, your browsing history or data from other apps, and it has no ads.
4. Phone permissions
- Precise and approximate location: to recommend a hospital and send your position during an emergency.
- Phone: to call 911 and your emergency contact with one tap.
- Camera and photo library: to take or choose the photo of your electrocardiogram.
- Internet: to notify the hospital and your family member and to receive the updated hospital directory.
You can deny or revoke any permission in your phone's settings. Without location, the app cannot recommend a hospital or send your position, but the button to call 911 still works.
5. What your data is used for
- Recommending the hospital that can treat your heart attack soonest and showing you the route.
- Notifying the receiving hospital that you are on your way, with your health record, your electrocardiogram and the minutes since symptom onset, so it can prepare and accept you or redirect you.
- Letting your emergency contact know which hospital you are going to.
- Communicating with the hospital through the chat while you are on your way.
- Recovering the emergency if the app closes in the middle of it.
We do not use your data for advertising, commercial profiling, sale to third parties or to train artificial intelligence models.
6. Where it is stored
- On your phone. Your health record, your contacts and your preferences are stored on your own phone. As long as you do not activate Código Infarto, they do not leave it.
- When you activate Código Infarto. The app sends your full health record, your location, the estimated time of arrival and the photo of your electrocardiogram to our server so the receiving hospital can see them. They are kept in private storage, and photos open through links that expire. The server may be located outside Mexico.
7. Who it is shared with
Only during an emergency that you activate:
- Receiving hospital staff: see your health record, your electrocardiogram, your location and the estimated time of arrival to prepare your care. If the hospital cannot receive you, the app sends you to the next one and the data goes to that hospital.
- Your emergency contact: receives a voice call alert, with retry, and a text message (SMS) with the hospital you are going to and a map.
- The hospital: receives on its on-call phone an alert for each new case and for each message you send.
Providers that help us (data processors)
To do the above, we use providers that process data only on our behalf and under a duty of confidentiality:
- a telephony provider, for the voice and SMS alert to your family member;
- a messaging provider, for the alert to the hospital's on-call phone;
- a maps and routing provider, which receives your location to calculate the route;
- a cloud storage provider, where what the hospital receives is stored.
We do not share your data with insurers, employers or advertisers. We would only hand it over to an authority in response to a legally grounded request, as the law requires.
8. Your consent
Your health data is sensitive personal data. Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP) requires your express consent to process it.
- When you start using the app, you expressly accept this policy and the notice that the app does not replace 911.
- When you tap the Código Infarto button, you confirm that you want to send your data to the hospital and notify your contact.
A record of each alert sent, with date and time, is kept for accountability. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your data (section 10).
9. How long it is kept
- On your phone: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- An emergency in progress: the app recovers it for 6 hours if it closes.
- On our server: the data from each emergency is kept for as long as needed to treat you and follow up on the case, and is then securely deleted.
- At the hospital: whatever becomes part of the hospital's medical record is kept in accordance with NOM-004 (at least 5 years), under the hospital's responsibility.
10. How to delete your data
- On your phone: delete your health record from the “Mis datos” (My data) section of the app, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling it deletes everything stored on the phone.
- On our server: write to novolutionlabs@gmail.com or message us on WhatsApp with the subject “Delete my Código Infarto data”, your name and the phone number you registered. We will delete your data and confirm by the same channel within 20 business days.
Anything that is already part of a hospital's medical record can only be requested from that hospital, which must keep it for the period required by law.
11. How we protect it
All communication between the app and our server is encrypted. What the hospital receives is kept in private storage, only authorized staff at the receiving hospital can see it, and photos open through links that expire. If an incident occurs that significantly affects your rights, we will notify you without delay.
12. Your ARCO rights
You can access your data, rectify it, cancel it or object to its use, and you can also revoke your consent. Email us at the address in section 2 with:
- your name and a way to reply to you;
- an official ID (or that of your representative and the document that proves their authority);
- which right you want to exercise and regarding which data.
We will reply within 20 business days and, if applicable, we will carry it out within the 15 business days that follow. It is free of charge. If you are not satisfied, you can turn to the Mexican personal data protection authority.
13. Hospital staff
If you use the hospital dashboard, we process your name, email, phone number, position, hospital and access logs in order to give you access, know who accepted or declined each case and protect the service. The patient data you see in the dashboard is confidential and may only be used for their care.
14. Minors
The app is intended for people over 18. If you enter another person's data, for example a family member's, you need their authorization or must be their legal representative.
15. Changes to this policy
We will post any change on this page with the date of the new version, and we will notify you within the app if the data we use or who we share it with changes.
